Phage-layer interferometry: a companion diagnostic for phage therapy and a bacterial testing platform
Antibiotic resistance (AMR) is a pressing issue, prompting the development of phage therapy, a personalized approach using bacteriophage viruses to kill pathogenic bacteria. However, traditional screening methods are inefficient in complex media and cannot distinguish binding and lysis parameters. Phage-layer Interferometry (PLI) has been developed as a companion diagnostic, capable of automation and functioning in opaque media like baby formula, with potential for combating AMR and foodborne illnesses.
